A friend of mine has a 1999 Altima. He was telling me that whenever he slows down or brakes, the car makes a groaning type sound up front. He said it sounded like it was coming from some part of the suspension, but didn't know which part. He did say it wasn't the squealing of worn brake pads or the clicking of cv joints. I haven't been in the car, so unfortunately I can't be more specific, but hopefully I can get some possible ideas of what is wrong with it to help him out. Thanks in advance.

groan is not very specific.check tires including roundness and balance, rotor warp, and axle (wheel) bearing. wheel bearing most prevalent at very low speed.

Yeah, I know. He kind of just mentioned it in passing and he made the sound vocally, but obviously I can't replicate that with type. Anyhow, I'll tell him to have those checked out. Thanks.
