just bought a 1999 altima gle and i'm trying to find some replacement speakers. not looking to thump, just jam. my question is I've seen size discrepencies over 61/2 or 63/4, but mostly im curious over the depth of the speaker. I've been researching this for a little while and cant seem to find a acceptable answer.

I own a '94 GXE and '00 GLE and found the best place to go for speaker size/depth questions to be http://www.crutchfield.com. Best bang for the buck amoung factory replacements have, imho, been Kenwoods or Sonys when it comes to proper fit and great sound (though you might want to look into running better wire to aid in allowing as much as possible from your receiver/amp). I'm thinking the max. depth for your vehicle would be in the realm of 4in. for the rear deck and about the same for the doors (being 6 3/4 speakers you don't really have to worry too much about depth since unlike 6 x 9s, they don't have the biggest magnets in the world to contend with). But, when in doubt, check with Crutchfield for mounting depth info.

i put some 6.5 3 way pioneers (ts-a1671r) all around....the rear is barley touching, but it is not a lot of force on them, and they sound great

Thanks guys, went and replaced my speakers today.Front: I put in some Eclipse SE8365Rear: Pioneer TS-G1641R

Everything went under the panels just fine as I can tell. The front door panels came off pretty easy. Watch out for the master switch, thats a pain! The rear deck wasn't so bad once I found a dircetion. You have to pull one side of the lower rear seat away 14mm bolt, then remove that sides outer seat-back 10mm bolt then it just lifts up. From here you remove that side interior panel and can slide the deck out in an angle. Of course remove the deck clips and 3rd brake light. Speakers are bolted in with 8mm.

So far everything sounds good! I will wait though to pass judgement after a break in period.
