I just bought this car in June, already replaced the alternator and the valve cover gasket. Now I need to replace the water pump... I was hoping someone might have some advice and tips on this as it looks a lot more complex, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting in over my head. I just cannot afford the five hundred dollars the mechanic wants to do it.

I had a 98 for a short while but I can't tell you how to do the WP.... have you checked on how-to DIY videos on youtube? What about googling something with that phrase for your 99 Altima? Might turn up with something.
