When I first bought this Altima I got really really confused because there is no dipstick to check the transmission fluid. I looked, I had four other people look... nope there is no dipstick. I went to the dealer and was told some of them do not have a dipstick they are just supposed to be drained and filled every X number of miles.

Now, I am looking to do the drain and fill myself because there is a squeeling when in gear. However, I have no clue how I am supposed to do it. Everything I read says to fill it by pouring it down the dipstick hole. Not having one I am totally lost on how to do it myself.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You.

I believe it's the little black knob you can see to the right, just below the throttle cable, to the left of the fuse box and at the top of that white rectangle. It doesn't really look like a dipstick... Manual cars don't have a dipstick. There is a 1/2" nut that screws into the side of the trans. that you use to fill the trans.

I guess I need to clarify more.

This car is an automatic, I just took a couple of pictures to prove that it is not there.

Here is from the manual that was posted where it should be.

Here is the engine:

Here is where it the dipstick would be if there was one. Which there is not.

As I said in my original message, I am trying to find out what to do so I can do a drain and fill on this car's transmission. I think it maybe called a sealed transmission now that I think about it more. I am still learning.

Did you check to see if it has a fill plug on the front about two-thirds down?
