1999.5 QX4 Starting Issue

New to this forum,but have found it helpful just reading,thanks. So here is my problem,poor start,stalls at idle occasionally. History,purchased in 2001,currently 265,000km,has been a great vehicle,brakes tire.and exhaust only thing I have had to do. Gave the car to my daughter 4 years ago so has on seen the care I use to give it. Car stalled in traffic several weeks ago,no start,towed to garage they diagnosised fuel pump gone,they wanted $800-1000 to repair plus felt it may need general tune up. Based on the age of the vehicle I felt putting a couple grand in an 18 year old car was not the right move.Changed the fuel pump and filter myself for $110,got the car running but then stalled and had a no spark issue.my test showed bad coil,so purchased a distributor for $120,thinking cap, rotor,etc need replacing,installed,still hard start but ran well when started,took it to a local mechanic to set timing. Still has trouble starting,note I also changed spark plug as it was due,the throttle body was also cleaned.I toook it out for a 30 minute drive,everything good,got home and it stalled in the driveway,again hard to start. Wow I'm writing my life history,sorry,could use some help P.S. engine light came on P0340.
