Post

I'm new to the forum and have been reading the various posts and appreciate all that have offered advice and opinion, especially the stuff that didn't work. Thanks.

I'm facing a replacement on the driver's side strut mount. I have followed the link to the step-by-step process (and pix!) posted by GQ Jay (forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/107345), but have some additional questions along the lines of what-else-should-I-do-while-I-have-it-apart?

Since I have not yet replaced the struts, I assume I should do that as well. The car has 89,000 miles. And since I'm doing the left side, I'll need to do the right. Should I replace the entire strut, or can I/should I just replace the "cartridge"? Is that even an option?

Also, what about strut/stabilizer bushings/caps/seals? Should any of those be replaced at this time?

And finally, as I approach the 90K service interval, what should really be done? I have the Infinity-specified list, but in reading through some of the threads it appears much more should be done. I generally take the car to the dealer for major service, but since the nearest dealer is now two hours away I don't have the luxury of taking it back for just one more thing.

Thanks.

You can just replace the cartridge.

If you have an adjustable suspension, you will lose that function by replacing cartridge's. Either way, it can be done.

If you want the adjustable feature, you need to replace the whole strut. (big$$$$)

At those miles, I would do it right away.

Also replace strut barings.

renoron --- if you do this some time soon please let me know how it gose what you payed how difficult it was was else you did and did it improve the ride significantly.

I have a 97 fy33 with close to 90,000k so I plan on changing my front strut cylinder - x2 - $237.22front spring seat - x1 - $25.21front stabilizer bar bushings - x2 - $10.37front suspension component bushings - x2 - $67.46front suspension strut mount - x1 - $26.70total price is $366.89

since I the some suspension components look brand new (recently replaced) I am still waiting to get my service records from the dealer and a thorough suspension inspection before I order the parts. As of now the only part I know I truly need is a left pass. side strut mount the driver side one looks brand new. Im also waiting for better weather this 5+ inches daily of snow here in rochester ny dosent make me feal like doing anything .

guys, pay attention to Q-ship and replace the bearings while you are in there. it is p/n BEARING-INF#54325-4P001. check your tension rods and ps rack boots, too. only small amount of additional effort.98 did not have sport setting on shock stiffness, so cartridges only should be ok.as long as the front subframe bushings are not leaking, with new cartridges, sway bar endlinks, tension rods, bearings and mounts the front suspension will feel like new.

At 90k I would flush the transmission, brakes, radiator and replace the air filter, in-cabin air filter, and the fuel filter. Not spark plug changes need to be done until 60k i think this car if I recall correctly. I know I did mine at the 60 service, does Infiniti call for new sparks at 90k?
