I have 98 q and she has been running great after i installed 8 new coils and factory plugs, super nice car and very well taken care of she has 112k and the coils and plugs were installed about 3 months ago, anyway just last night she started to become gutless!! kind of weird so i came home and gave her a rest and drove her again and she was fine? anyway i have no light on yet but i had a pending knock sensor bank 1 in the pending bank? well my question is i know i need to replace both and the harnes but i need to take this car on a long trip next week, and im in a pickle with time and everything, is this going to be a problem, it will alsmost be all highway miles but its a long trip about 1800 miles round trip, is there away around that knock sensor{disconnect and let the other one do the job} thanx for the replys and advice.

There has been talk of putting a resistor inline on the KS harness to "fool" the car into thinking it's there, but good luck with that.

You don't need to do anything. When the knock sensors fail the ECU retards the timing to keep it safe from detonation. The only side effect is what you've discovered-you lose some hp-maybe 20 or so?
