1998 Pathfinder Windsheild wipers work sometimes

I have a 98 Pathfinder and with the winter season coming up would like to try to fix an issue I am having with my windshield wipers. I have searched and can not find anything relating to the problem I am having. My wipers work sometimes and other times they don't work this is for both the front and back wipers since they are both not working at the same time and work sometimes at the same time I have ruled out the wiper motor? Has anyone ever had this problem or does anyone know what I need to check to make these function properly again?

Possibly could be the switch on the steering column?

I was thinking that at first but the switch for the rear wipers is a button under radio. Would that switch and the one on the steering column be connected together?

What about a bad ground?
