I have a 98 sentra 5 speed.

My friend and I were discussing the Oil in the Air Duct Between the Throttle Body and Air Box. I had previously replaced the pcv valve (about a week ago) because it was covered in oil. The car has not been running well at all (no power). He thinks this is in indication of the piston rings dying and that I have blow by.

I think this could possibly be the valve seal. Some educated opinions would be helpful. Thank you!

if the oil is pooling in the air tube its likely thatnthe valve cover is bad. inside the vale cover are baffels to prevent oil being drawn into the intake tube. with the poor running you may have oil on the mass air flow sensor also.

Thanks for the info.

Would I then need to check the MAF? But if that was malfunctioning wouldn't that throw some kind of CEL?
