Hey everyone...my name is George and I'm a proud new member to this forum. Until today, I had no idea that help forums such as this exist.

Can anyone provide me with guidence in diagnosing the problem(s) at hand. I had recently noticed a re-occurance of these trouble codes (P0325 & P1446). These are the same codes that came up again, after resetting a week ago. I tried to reset them today and they came up immediately.

My inspection is up in a month, the car has 86,000 miles and considering it is likely an O2 sensor issue, it will not pass.

The scantool book says that P0325 is a knock sensor(1 circuit, bank1) and P1446 is a evaporative system vent control circuit (manufactorer specific).

Please help if you can.

Thank youGeorge

Knock sensor is either being thrown by the evap code which can happen. if not u can replace it urself. its fairly easy and an inexpensive part.

i just had to replace my evap canister and purge valve from p1445 code. i will look up the code tomorrow at work and see if i can find a service bulletin on p1446. the evap system is behind the driver side rear tire and can be changed completely in 1-2 hours without having a car rack.

another updated. ur wiring harness where it bends around the passenger side strut tower and behind the motor can cause breakage on some internal wiring. unfastening the plastic clips may help reduce tension and solve the issue. i am having this problem now. its about 2000 for a new wiring harness if ur not a nissan employee and 5 hours of labor to put one in. it can be fixed without having a new one put in.. its a lot of trial and error. if you would like to check into this route, let me know and i can give more specifics.

So are you suggesting I replace the evap. canister?

I guess before I replace anything...I will remove this harness clip first, to reduse tension, which you are speaking of. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

there are about 5 clips they are plastic and u need to cut them with something like, wire cutters would be easy. move the harness a little bit after u are done to make sure it is free and is more freely mobile. i have not had a chance to check the p1446 code yet but i will do so. don't try to change ur evap canister yet or purge valve. its about 230 so i don't want u spending the money till we find out whats wrong

I located the main wiring harness. I traced it from where it passes through the fire wall, behind the engine, favoring the passenger side. This wire bundle has an approximate diameter of 1.5". Standing on the passenger side, I noticed that this bundle of wire passes through the fire wall and bends 90 degrees towards the passenger strut tower, than travels horizontally, for about 12 inches, to the passenger strut tower, than continues it's inclined route to the top, injector area, of the engine. This wire bundle only has 2 clips that hold it in place from behind the engine to the strut tower. The wire bundle does not seem to appear or feel too restrictive. At this point, I see no reason to unattach these clips. I'm afraid that with this wire bundle being unattached, it could become subject to damage from direct contact with any heated elements from the engine compartment. I can add a picture to show you, if you deem necessary.

I beleive we need to wait to see what you find out about the diognostic codes from my scan tool.

its it up to you. for sure. don't do something that you feel is unnecessary. there was a nissan posted service bulletin on 95- 99 maximas about that wiring harness. the clips do cause a problem when the motor moves due to starts, turns, revs, shifts, and stops. i had to release my clips and i still have a problem with code 1445 and its at that turn. i have to go and find the broken wire. i am going to look today for your code and see if it has a similar bulletin.

I am very surprisedd. you do not have to modify the harness for that code. i found two nissan bulletins and i need to covert them to word so i can paste them or i need ur e-mail to send them to u. they are adobe pdf format.they are simple to check it looks like.

Is there any chance you can cut and paste these pdf files for the trouble codes? I cannot seem to open them. I updated my adobe and vista and still cannot open them.

Oh yeah...about the clips...you mentioned that the impingment occurs where the wire bends...correct? Maybe I can undo the clips and then resucure the bundle alittle bit looser...what do you think?
