i have a 98 ka24de with 60K miles on it.

starts up @ 1100 and warms to 700... i get about 90 miles for a quarter tank...

my ka is in a 1985 ae86 coupe and it was for track use only and im trying to make it street legal..

i have this horrible smell from my exhaust and i dont know what the problem is.. there must be a small leak in my exhaust manifold cause it comes in through the window while driving(propped hood).....

i have a home depot intake and 2-1/4 exhaust with no resonator or catback out to an apexi muffler... (it still smelled like this before i did the home depot intake)....

some people say its the O2 and others say its the fuel pump...

im using the pump and lines from the ae86(1.6 4age engine)....

im about to buy ss braided lines and a walbro 255 pump but want to see if i can get any help here before i get into it...

i cant say it smells rich but it does smell really bad and makes you all light headed and want to throw up....

any help.. thanks!!!!!!

I hope you are using a non-carburated pump... else you will be pushing the crap out of that pump to supply the necessary fuel pressure.

It's an exhaust leak you need to find it.

My friends SR5 was rusted out in the rear and we would always get exhaust fumes in the passenger compartment. What is the exhaust in thats on it, and any leaks off the manifold.

its from a 1.6 4age engine that is EFI.....

im sure theres some little holes in my exhaust and if i patch them up the smell will no longer come into the car but i want to get rid of the smell entirely...

any suggestions as to what would make my car give off this nasty smell??

too small of a fuel pump?

O2?

anything?

the car runs fine, i hit 13.9 1/5 of the time on a quarter with just an intake and exhaust..... its just the smell ......

sorry for the ignorance but im learing from the ground up...

Probably running a bit on the rich or lean side. You need to get a scope on the O2 and see what its reading or use a 5 gas analyzer to see which gas is runnin high. A lean coindition will make your eyes burn, rich condition will smell alot like gas.
