Please pardon my ignorance, but I am really frustrated. I have a mechanic who who works on my car and seems to know what he's doing. I currently have steady brake, battery, and A/T temp lights on. Within past 2 years I've put in new alternator, waterpump, battery, radiator, coolant overflow bottle, changed all belts including timing belt, new brake pads, rotors, and master cylinder. The battery, brake & A/T temp light have been on and remain steady. Recently, engine started overheating but fluid levels are all good. Went to Aamco for diagnostic and was told transmission is good and no engine or transmission codes are found, also battery and alternator putting out proper amps/volts (whatever), and thermostat opening and closing normally. Aamco did say sounds like waterpump may be bad, so I have purchased a new waterpump + thermostat and it will be changed this weekend (Oct. 26-27) by my mechanic. Aamco says may be electrical issue. I've read on other forums that a bad alternator will cause all those lights to come on.
I'm assuming changing the waterpump and thermostat will solve overheating issue but can't figure out why having just fixed the brakes, and battery and alternator test good why those lights should be on.????
Can anyone indulge me by considering my problem and maybe have answers or suggestions? MANY THANKS. Susan
