I recently wrecked my Q45 and it looks like it will not be repairable.

Anyway, the issue is that the front end was wrecked and tow truck cut the battery cable, but I have things in the trunk that I need to get out, but it won't open because there is not power. What is the easiest way to get the trunk open? Is there an alternative way to open the trunk or can I pull apart the back seat or ???

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Do you have the keys to the car?

Or you can read the service manual and look at the wiring diagram to determine where the switch is located and where to supply power to it to open the trunk.

If that fails you can do my favorite (I wouldn't do it to my car) You can take a crow bar, sledge hammer... to the trunk.

Sorry for your loss but I hope you come back to NICO with a new Q45.

If the key doesn't work you'll need to remove the DF door panel and run a pair of jumpers from the battery to the connector for the trunk lock release switch. With the negative jumper to ground touch the positive jumper to each of the pins and one of them should open the trunk.

On the G50 the trunk release is in the DF door. It may be elsewhere on your 98Q.

Yes - I have the keys. This may be a stupid thing to say, but I didn't think there was a place to use the key to open the trunk on this car. I am looking at the service manual and it shows a truck lid key cylinder, but I do not remember having one... Maybe I missed it but I always used the opener in the driver front door.

Yes - I may need to resort to that - I guess it is headed to a salvage yard anyway if I can find someone to take it.

That is a good idea - I can take my portable jumper battery and take the door panel off and hook the jumper to the pins on the trunk release.
