My '98 I30T has 130,000+ miles. Has been idling rough lately and at times very hard starting. I started a TB and MAF cleaning only to find a broken vacuum hose that starts (or ends) at the top of the transmission housing case that appears to end (or start) somewhere near the oil trap located between the MAF and TB. There's even a plastic loom or hanger to hold the small vac hose up against the larger vacuum hose that runs from the top corner of the valve cover to the oil trap reservior. The broken vacuum hose at the broken end appears to have broken at a clamp fitting since an1/8th inch of the broken end is compressed as if a hose clamp had been holding in place somewhere.BUT WHERE???? I've search but cannot find an orphan vacuum nipple or tee fitting or union of any sort. There are no orphaned male fittings on the run from the air filter top all the way to the TB. ANy ideas?

Is there a vacuum diagram available? Any one who's experienced the same, 10 year old broken vac line?

I don't know the answer to your problem but the factory service manual will have a drawing of the location of the vacuum lines. It's a .rar file so you will have to unzip it with Winrar before you can view it.

In case you can't get it to download, there should be a schematic on the underside of the hood showing the emissions control (vacuum) system. Good luck.

Thanks Mike. The full manual helped but didn't solve my problem. Bottom line is I need to head over to my local dealership and inquire, or find another Gen 4 VQ so I can compare hoses and terminal connections.
