I have no check engine light when key placed in on position. There used to be one but recently it has dissappeared. The car has 52000 miles.

1) Any thoughts how to determine if the check engine light dash bulb is bad or something else wrong . Car seems to run OK, no misses or power loss.

2) Can I still retreive codes? Is there is a flasher at the ECU that will indicate the codes since the dash check engine light is gone?. I have never retreived codes on this car so not familiar with the ECU operation.

3) Since emissions related if ECU a problem is this covered under the 96 month/80k mile long term Federal Emissions defect warranty?

Thanks in advance

You have a 1998 vehicle, which you can connect to an ODB II scanner to check codes. I believe Autozone offers this service for free.
