Hello all,

New to the forum - 1998 Pathfinder.

Against my better judgment, I used one of those cheap windshield replacement businesses right next to a Pull-A-Part here in Atlanta (mine was cracked and very much illegal). Besides some basic cosmetic nicks from the install, everything seems to be in place. I'm almost certain that they didn't even use a real replacement part but the fit appears to be legitimate and matches almost every picture I can find online with the exception of a couple. I didn't take a close look at mine before they started working...

Anything that I can look for in particular that will make things obvious? It hasn't rained so no idea if it leaks or not.

Thanks

In this picture, the sides of the front windshield are flush against the frame. I'm almost certain that this is how mine did look. Unfortunately, I don't have a single picture of the Pathfinder before I had the work done to compare images.

There is a visible and increasing distance between the frame and the windshield as you move from the roof towards the hood. This is how my windshield looks now.

I could be crazy, but I rarely use cheap businesses and second guess myself every time I do.

If you are worried about leaking, take it thru an automatic car wash to test.

Yup carwash, or a good olé garden hose test so that you can bail on the test when you see the first sign of danger.

The thing that a discount outfit might skimp on is replacing the trim pieces on the two sides and at top.
On checking whether it's a good piece of glass, the OEM one has a vertical line running in the middle. It's one of the radio antennas. I bought a replacement unit for $130 installed and it had the integrated antenna, seems to be holding well.

I'll bring it to the wash in a couple of days. Right now the windshield has a piece of blue painter's tape across the top to help the adhesive settle for a day or two, or so they said...

Yes, it has that antenna in the glass. It tested fine on the way home. AM, right?

Mine was $179 with a "tax" to make it $185 out the door. Maybe not so much of a deal. I just checked and Safelite quotes $328.95. My insurance deductible was $500 if I went that route.

All I wanted was for the junkyard to have a distributor, EVAP canister, and a valve. All were taken. :frown:

I had mine done in mexico for $110 with the antenna line in the glass. The only thing they replaced is the rubber. The other pieces at the bottom and sides snap back on.
