1998 altima won't shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse?

Got a friend who's car just started the problem, runs fine in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears but will not shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse.... has anyone ever run into this problem before? Also its a 5 speed manual to save on any confusion...

Mine 98 altima was doing the same thing replaced motor mounts got slightly better. Then pulled trans out and apart the input shaft berrings were shot and ground out a few gears. Sounds like you may need a rebuild.
