I've got a broken lug on my 98 and it won't pass inspection. These are like a two piece wheel. You can't hammer out the broken lug because there is a plate (not a dust cover, a solid steel plate) about a half inch behind the lug so it's in the way. You can't just slide off these rotors off like I'm used to. You have to be able to seperate those two plates. My mechanic says it's 2.25 hours to take these rotors off. He says they use a tooling machine on these that works while the rotors are still on the car when the rotor need turned. It's a royal pain. I can't seem to find any information on the internet anywhere that gives me a step by step process. But the wheel needs to be semi-disassembled to get these two pieces apart so I can remove the lug. Hopefully someone in this community knows how to do this.
TIA

The easiest is download the manual from here section FA, Front Axle, gives a step by step, lots of pis and words with warnings.

Yes, with some effort I found the manual. I'm not sure that I am technically proficient enough to do this. It looks like when you pull the wheel hub off you are opening up the bearings and I don't have any experience there. I'd hate to screw that up. Plus there are some specific torque proceedures and sequences to get the wheel back on properly. I think this is one area that I'd have to see it done once.

The procedure is straight forward but the pre loading is important because with none the gear lash back n the drive system can be a bit harsh, so with a preload there is no excess free wheel play.

If you feel uncomfortable doing this job let a professional do it. Although working on vehicles is not a hard job there are many times until you are comfortable that the work is not worth the worry.
