It's all back together now and back on the road with new front strut cartridges. Now when steering the front end is much tighter, does not snap back over to center as easliy when making turns and the power steering system seems to labor (chatters occasionally) Could I have over-tightened the nut on top of the strut assembly when reassembling it? Is there a torque requirement for that nut or will it break in and loosen up after it gets some use?

NOTE- Joe's part database is flawed when selecting parts for this application. I had ordered a set of front and rear struts and strut mounts with the part selector but the order was processed to ship me a set of strut brackets (a non-wear item) Unfortunately I did not discover this until the car was apart and needed to purchase the 1 only strut mount available to me locally at retail. I replaced my 1 broken strut mount and had to reassemble the car with the other original 130k mount.

On FA-6 of 2000 FSM it is specified at 30 - 35 ft. lb.

Too critical no to use the FSM and a calibrated Torque Wrench.

Thank You. I definitely far exceeded that torque. At this point I don't suppose it wouldn't hurt much to back them out and torque them while on the car. The car's weight probably does as good a job preloading the springs as the strut spring compressor.
