Good morning to all. My 2.4 automatic transmission 2WD started by not engaging to drive, I did some adjustments and then the problem got better but had to take off on Low gear then to Drive but the reverse always worked fine. I changed fluid, filter and new gasket, filled 5 quarts with new clean fluid and it shows full when cold and idleing. Now after doing this maintenance, it will not engage on any gear now. When I took the pan out to change the filter, I did not touch anything under. Please advice if in any case I have missed any steps.

I have just learned I posted this on the wrong forum. I could not find the Nissan truck forums then. Moderators please excuse me and move it to the appropriate forum. Thank you!

:welcome:

Could you please clarify? You own a 1997 vehicle, and the trim level is XE. But what model is it?

Thank you for your answer. Would it be KA24E or are you referring to the Vin ?

You have a 97 Hardbody.

You said you made some "adjustments." What does that mean? What did you do?

My guess is that when you changed the trans filter, an o-ring may have been damaged or not replaced.

Also, fluid level should be checked when the engine and trans are at operating temperature.

Excuse this old man for not thinking correctly when writing. Going back to the adjustments I made, I just remember it was on a Toyota which had similar problem a couple of years ago. I have not driven the Nissan for a while until I got rid of the Toyota, I have been driving the pickup now for four months but did have the problem so I thought of restoring the Nissan because I like it so much. So there was no adjustments, just the changing of ATF and filter. I will get under it tomorrow and take the case out and inspect to see if something doesn't look right. Any other pointers, please et me know. Thank you.
