1997 s14 with s14 sr20det diag. scanner compatable?

I was wondering if there is any way to still use the dianogistic scanner on an s14 with an sr20det in it. Will it still scan it and tell any problems? I know that the japanese cars dont really have obd II. Any advice would be great. Ive been watching the other post on here and was wondering if there was another way, or any way to hook the scanner up to it. How do you diagnose these motors if it wont read it? Just trial and error and lots of guessing?

No, Japan does not support ODBII at all.

The S14 in Japan uses Nissan's Consult II
