My 1997 Qx4 will not start. It sounds like it is getting ready to start but will not actually turn over. It even cuts off sometime while I am on the highway with no warning signs. Recently the check engine light just stays on.

Someone help!!!!!!!!!!!

What OBD2 codes are in ecu, and give us the 2 most recent 90 day results from your periodical technical visits to Nissan shop [generic or dealer].How have you spent the $2,000 allocated during 2007 for maintenance and repairs. Tires, brakes, fluid changes, system repairs?

Waiting until things break and set codes is not very proactiveGo to Azone and get codes read [I know hard to do if it won't run].

Test fuel pump pressure or just flatbed to a dealer.............same engine as Pathfinder so Nissan can work on it.

first of all, if u don't mind telling me, what are the codes? the $2000, is that what it would take to do all the maintenance checks? or is that allocated by the dealer?

Studies of maint and repair costs for various vehicles have shown that $1200-$1500 for a 4 cylinder Civic and ~~$2000 for a V6 and roughly $3,000 for a Lux V8 are the average to maintain in as new condition. These a prorated numbers and some will vary by years but over 10 years they average out. Things build up and up and wear without failure then whamo the chickens come home to roost [things break].

Just because you haven't spend the money doesn't mean you don't OWE the car the money!

If you don't know what OBD2 codes are or how to read them find a experience technican familiar with your specific year and model to do the work for you.

A scanner reads a code for why the light came on then you look the code up in your Factory Service Manual and follow the step by step by step diagnostic proceedure to arrive at the component to replace.

Many times there are multiple codes and multiple things to do.

I took it to get a diagnostic testing and all it showed was that i needed a knock sensor and the mechanic told me that that would be no reason for the car to not start.

Are the spark plugs in the qx4 easy to change? How?
