When I put my transmission from park to drive or reverse theres a hesitation before it goes in gear. Doesn't matter hot or cold. also when i'm driving and it changes gears sometimes it will change rough, almost like somethings banging. Does anybody have an answer to this.

If you mean like a 3 or 4 second delay, then thats perfectly normal in our cars.... You should wait til the gear is fully engaged before you give it any gas. If you gas it without waiting, then the gear will catch while the engine is at a higher RPM and it will jerk the car, thats hell on your transmission.

It even states in the owners manual about this delay.

Thanks. What about when the transmission changes gears rough when i'm driving. It doesn't do it all the time. mostly when its going from first to second and sometimes third. I was thinking maybe its the u-joints.

Ive never really had a problem with my transmission in that respect, but I do want to mention that I had a thorough automatic transmission fluid flush at a quick oil change place, and it made a noticeable difference in smoothness. It cost me about $90 and make sure they flush out the transmission fluid cooler too (its built in to the bottom of your radiator, youll see two small rubber hoses)

I have done 2 transmission flushes. Changed the filter and gasket. I added Lucas Transmission Fix. I didn't flush the cooler. There was still no change. the Fluid looked fine. Could I flush the cooler without having to flush the transmission again.

I don't know if this is related to you, but I was all stoaked on Lucas until....It blew my power steering hose off one car for the powersteering (no big the clamp was loose and the think fluid probably made it kick off). The power steering made a groaning noise after I added it to my other car.

And I did the same service as you on the transmission, and the Lucas, and it make my transmission sluggish and would bump at like 55 uphill in 3rd every once and a while.

I added it to Mobil 1 prior, and was pissed. Because replaced 4 qts of new. So my other car will get the week old 4qts because it liked it cheap (American)

The diluted Lucas didn't do the bump. So I don't know. I want to use the Lucas but it did change things a tad. I have seen some not so good things about the additive for oil also. But I have buddies that did some amazing stuff with it. Long story.

Clogged filters and gunk can do this, but it sure sounds like it is not you case. I have used Seafoam and got junk out that fluid exchange didn't.

also there are BG products that will really clean that up, if that is the problem. I don't know.

Also maybe check your fan clutch. It could be going bad, cooling too much. These can be repaired which is a little secret that they don't tell you.

Mine has a pretty hard shift from 1st to 2nd, particularly when it is under 35* outside. My impression on these vehicles is that a lot of them exhibit transmission behavior that seems odd compared to most cars, but they never seem to actually die.
