I have a 1997 QX4 and when it rains I can see leaks on both sides of the sunroof. The water should drip onto the channels and go out of the drainage tubs but after removing the headliner I can see where the water is seaping out where the crossbar metal joins the track. When the headliner was attched water would drip onto the headler and show around the grab handles on the passenger side. The Stealership wants to charge $109 to diagnose a problem that I can show them and then $109/hr to fix. I need help from anyone that has had this same problem.

I have this same vehicle, and this same problem. Any info you might be able to pass on would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

You could try replacing the weather stripping around the window/frame. I have a 99 QX4 and there is a water stain exactly where you described. I haven't done anything about it because it was like that when I got the car and I haven't noticed anything after a good rain. Or maybe your drains are clogged somehow?

I took my vehicle to a sunroof place they told me that the water was coming in through two screws in the luggage rack not the sunroof. I told them and showed them where the water was coming in around the sunroof but they insisted that the water wasn't coming in through the sunroof. They put some silicone in the holes and supposedly replaced the screws and said that the leak was fixed. Needless to say that I paid $125 for this (non) repair because my vehicle is still leaking.

I was told by the dealership that the weatherstrip around the sunroof cannot be replaced. I checked all the drain valves and they are all clear.

I finally took it to the dealership the other day after it rained and showed them exactly where the water was leaking onto my seats. I'll let you know what they find and recommend to fix the problem.

I was working on my car the other day and I noticed that the weather strip was kind of popping up a little bit. Apparently the glue lost it's hold and the entire front part could just be lifted up. I put some silicon glue down to try and waterproof it.

Why can't the weather strip be replaced?
