This has been my family's car for the past 7.5 years. I can DIY but have debated purchasing a set of struts for this car for quite some time because I cannot find them anywhere cheaper than the infinity stealership. The car has 130k on the original suspension and is in need of replacement struts and mounts all around.

I know that 2nd gen q45's dont have the parts availablilty and DIY following as 1st gen models but I would like to know if anybody can provide an alternative source of parts struts at a more fair price.

ABS light and SLIP light on. (hopefully 1 wheel speed sensor code causing both faults?)Engine setting 2 o2 DTCsAside from the lack of wanting to follow through with suspension and emissions control maintenance, the car has been well maintained, oil every 3000mi, filters always changed, runs smooth and shifts wellThe body is not so great, interior is ok, AC is coldI could freshen it up with what it needs if parts would be available at a worthwhile parts and they would keep it or we'd look for other alternatives.

Does the car have any resale value or parts value?

Thanks

Resale Value is probably the pits. I believe the 97-00 are low maint compared to the newer models. It's probably a good dependable car with cosmetic problems.

You can find strut mounts outside of the Infiniti dealership. Sadly, the struts are an dealer item. Since it's a dealer item, you can buy some from Joe... everythinginfiniti.com and save money from the site on dealer items. We get a discount being NICO members.

Also, I thought that I needed some struts a couple of weeks ago because my car would make a knocking noise everytime I hit a bump in the road. Found out that it was not the strut but a stabilizer link that needed replacing = $$ saving hundreds of dollars $$

If you part it out, you might have a interior part that I need.

There are some sources for aftermarket strut replacements and springs as well. I would decide if you want to put another 100k on the car, if you do (and the car can for sure take you another 100k) than find Onetongarage and get set of KYB SR Specials for about $800. These are much better than the stockers and will last forever compared to the stock ones as well. I think these are not worth much on the open market but they are still great cars and pretty low cost to keep going for a big luxo sedan.

Wow... $280 each from Joe! Even with that sticker shock, I can't imagine parting out a Q with only 130K unless it's just completely trashed cosmetically!

Did you call Joe for that price quote? That actually doesn't sound so bad for new OEM struts.

Which ones are these? Are these for my 2nd gen Q?

I am considering parting this car. The body isn't so nice and it's still got a good interior. I just picked up a w140 Mercedes with a sweet exterior/interior and bad engine. The Q would make a good drivetrain donor though I don't know if it would be enough for a 5000lb car. Thoughts?

I'm interested in parts if you decide to go that route. I couldn't see parting with a Y33 though.
