Ok here is a problem that I am experiencing. My speedometer sometimes works and sometimes does not this has been intermittent, recently the temp gauge has been intermittent too. I think that it is a ground issue. Has anybody had this problem? Anybody know where the instrument cluster connects to ground? I have already replaced the speed sensor on the trans so that is not the issue.

I have a similar problem with my 97 q, my temperature gaugue works funny. Sometimes it doesnt work at all other times it shakes. I am not sure what the problem is i am thinking it might be somehow connected to some kind of temperature sensor.
Have you had any repairs?

I haven't had this problem with my Q... but on a VW and a Honda I owned, when the gauges started not working intermittently, it ended up being a bad alternator both times.

I have never had any issues with my Q's gauges, but I think a check of your alternator is a good start. Do you have any issues starting after a few days???? Get that check at a shop first before doing any more troubleshooting.

Thanks for the suggestion but if it would be alternator then the battery would not charge and i have 12.4v when the car is cold and 14v when the engine is running so i doubt it is the alternator and i dont have problems starting the car after few days of sitting.

i have another issue with the car it hesitates sometimes for like 1-2 seconds when i press gass and then all of a sudden it goes fast. It does not appear to be transmission because tachometer does not jump and transmission does not slip. I was reading posts and some people say it could be fuel filter. Today i changed fuel filter. when i turned it the gas was leaking out of the filter it was very dirty. However, car still hesitates but a little less. I also changed oil and transmission fluid.
I have 172k on the car, recent repairs were: ngk spark plugs (about 25k ago), all 8 coils (15k ago), valve cover gaskets (25k ago), two knock sensors and gaskets (about 30k ago). I also seafomed it I was also told by my shop that my transmission mount needs to be replaced but havent done it yet. Also i got a code for egr, i reset and it came back approximately 300 miles later. I checked all the hoses going to egr and reset computer again, i drove about 800 miles and the code did not come back.

Any suggestions as far as hesitation?
thanks
