First let me say I'm a new member. Glad I found a place I can get some information about my pathfinder. Anyway....here goes!!!

I have a 1997 Pathfinder (apprx. 118,000 mi.). We have kept up this vehicle very well. Here's my question: I'm starting to see evidence of a coolant leak (not anything else) under my car. It seems to be possibly leaking between the transmission and rear of engine. I've check all of my hoses. I've recently had the wax pellet replaced. Timing belt was replaced at about 105,000 along with water pump.

I don't have oil in my radiator, so I know it's not a head-gasket.

Could it be a soft/freeze plug? Is there some kind of sensor on the rear of the engine that could be leaking?

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bruce

if it comes from the bakc of the motor area, it could be something like a heater core hose....

IMO easiest way would be to pressure test the cooling system... You can either have a shop do this or get a tester... Youll test the cooling system at 23PSI.. You cna check for leaks that way.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

I've been keeping my eye on it for a couple days now. It hasn't been leaking, so now I'm wondering if there is some kind of overflow tube/pressure release tube of some kind at the rear of the engine that allows for some kind of pressure relief. As I kind of stated in my other post, it came straight down from the center area behind the engine. At first I thought maybe it was one of the transmission coolant lines, but they're dry as can be.

I'm pretty sure it's not from condensation in the A/C since we haven't been running it.
