Hey folks, this will be my first time posting on this site. Just throwing it out that I am not too mechanically inclined.
I have a 97 pathfinder. It has 152XXX miles on it. I have a major issue with it that I can not figure out. If I am cruising at 55 mph and I try to give it a lot of gas to speed up to say 75 mph, it doesn't want to do it. It will rev up, but not speed up. It jumps a little bit and eventually it will get up to speed. I can very slowly creep up to 75 or 80 mph and it cruises at that speed very well. It only messes up when I give it a lot of gas to speed up quickly. Sometimes after it sits for a few hours, when I try to crank it up and drive quickly, it doesn't want to accelerate. The best way to describe the problem is the similarity to running out of gas. Thats what it feels like. Except there is plenty of gas in it. The pathfinder had a tune up last January and I just changed the fuel filter about a month ago. The check engine light comes on every week or so but goes off after about ten minutes. I had it in the shop a few weeks ago and they could not find the issue. Has anybody had an issue with their pathfinder similar to this? I am desperate to fix the issue. If I cannot figure out the problem soon, I will have to get a new SUV.
If need be, I will film the issue and post on this thread if that helps out. I am not good at describing the problem.
