While driving on the freeway today around 70 mph i noticed my rpm gage was way up not in the RED thank god but over further than i had ever seen it and i wasn't driving at a high speed. I worked my way over and got off the freeway and could hear a change in the car sounded like it was idling high... what could this be? HELP... Reese in Moreno Valley, CA

Welcome to NICO!

Idle RPM is unrelated to RPM at speed--that's what "idle" means. :) Once you press the gas pedal, the car is no longer idling.

Is your O/D (overdrive) switch on the shifter set to on or off? If overdrive is off, the car is limited to third gear and below, and that will cause high RPM at highway speeds.
