Hello~I am having an issue w/ my car. I have all the power coming on in the car, my battery has been tested and it's fine. Before I was able to start it and drive and once I turned it off it would not start again. I had to wait hours before it would re-start. Then it just stopped starting all together. I was told my starter was going out. I went and bought a brand new started, put it in and it still does not turn over. All you hear is a "clicking" sound but nothing else. Any other ideas? I do have oil in my engine... :-) Please help! Thanks,Maggie

Hmm...

Have You Done Anything To The Car Before This?

Happened To Me When When I Was Changing My Radio And Created A Short, Which Eat My Battery.

If it was the alternator would I even have power inside the car? Yes, the battery was tested and it's fine.

what ditto say, if it's just clicking, alternator for sure...if not check your grounds in the engine bay, one of them might be loose causing your car to shut off and not come back on until they somehow wiggle back onto a contact.

doesn't your alternator just supply power once the car is running? i'd venture to say that you got a bum starter. i went through 3 starters in 2 weeks on my old hatch because i kept getting crap parts. try pop starting it, or whacking the starter while you turn the key.

yes you are correct numbnuts...but if your alternator is bad, eventually it can no longer hold a charge. So after time it stops starting if their is no juice, but on the other hand he said the battery is good so i guess the alternator theory is out.

I'm a She, not a He. :-)I'm having someone come over and re-test the battery, or try to jump the car. Hopefully some of your suggestions will help me out. Thanks for all your input everyone! I appreciate it! Well it's finally above freezing here today. It was -20 below 2 mornings ago..so to us it feels like shorts weather!! All I know is that this is causing me to want a couple beers at happy hour! What a pain!

Check your battery cables for corrosion. Corrosion can set in and reduce the amount of current getting to the starter.

Id have the battery checked. I had the clicking sound in mine, turned out to be a battery going bad.
