1997 Nissan pathfinder speaker question

I took out the old front speakers from my car. my problem is im not sure which one is positve or negative between the two wires. I want to install the new ones the right way. i check the old speakers and there were no positive or negative sign on it. please help! thanks!

While this may seem like a lot of work, pull one of the rear speakers and look at the wiring. Typically there is a stipe or ribs on one of the wires indicating which is positvie or negative. They key is that you wire them all the same. It doesn't matter which you hook up to where as long as all the speakers are the same. If you don't you'll end up cancelling out the bass and the seperation will so distinct that the vocals won't appear out of the center but as if they're coming out of each speaker - Also, the spade lug size is usually different.

I know that on my Q45 bose system, that one prong was wider than the other.. i think the wider one is the positive side.....

BTW i dont think youll do any damage by hooking them up backwards...

i have new speakers and to install them do i have to take off the whole door panel or is there a way to just remove the speaker cover?
