1997 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 96,000 miles

I had someone change a Rack and Pinion in my 97 maxima. The air bag light is blinking after changeing Rack and Pinion. I try to reset by pressing door button 5 times. which changed the blinking from steady flash to slow flash(flashes on for 2 secs and off for 3 secs seems like) but did not remove the flashing.

My question is this.

1) Did the Rack and pinion installation caused this, is there a setting/connection that needs to be done where steering wheel connect to Rack and Pinion. etc...

2) Do you have some other reset method that will clear this light.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

try the reset once or a few times more. if that doesn't help take it to a dealer for diagnostics - or the shop that replace your rack for repair.the airbag module might've been damaged.

I have been reading around and this might have something to do with spiral cable out of alignment. etc... We did move stearing wheel little after the rack was disconnected. Hopefully I have not damaged the spiral cable. How do you fix replace if its broken or just align it. Is there any pictures to this procedure.
