The complete exhaust system on my 1997 Nissan pickup SE 4x4 2.4 needs to be replaced. I found a complete system including gaskets and clamp for $369.00 from Mac Auto Parts. My question is has anyone purchased this system? My concern is the quality of after market systems. The system is a direct fit ( no gas wrench needed). My thinking is the pickup is a 1997,I priced out a lot of systems, and I am going to install the system myself,so at this price and my labor, this is the direction I might go. What do you think, looking for different opinions or other suggestions.

Can you link us to what you are buying so we can have a look? What's the warranty on their parts?

I am not sure if there is a warranty. I was looking on E bay, the only thing I could find was a muffler & tail pipe The seller was Mac Auto Parts,so I went online to Mac Auto Parts.net. I went to a site called - Automotive parts & accessories. I have never heard of them,or purchased anything from them. I do not even know what state they are located in. I talked to them on live chat, and on the phone, they do guarantee the system to be a direct fit for my vehicle. Take a look the price is almost to good to believe, that is why I am wondering if going with this system is going to be a good buy and a quality product. If I were buying the system from a private party I would assume it is used, or I was purchasing stolen property. Let me know what you think. I really need help and different opinions on this one.

Mac Auto Parts is a NY business.

Mac Auto Parts
315 Boston Post Road
Port Chester, NY 10573

I assume the parts are chinese made though. If you are looking for a cat-back why not just buy a Magnaflow muffler and have the pipes custom bent by an exhaust shop?

Thanks for your response. Here is what I have to work with. The truck in the past has had exhaust issues. The OEM exhaust system has flanges on the converter, extension pipe, and muffler. The P.O. has cut the exhaust pipe, welded in a converter, and used various sizes of pipe to make a extension pipe, which is welded to the muffler. The truck has a mid 02 sensor, which was cut out from the original extension pipe and welded into the one that is there. THE BOTTOM LINE - Trying to make something work would be like making a fruit salad out of horse s!!t. I assume the exhaust system was made over the pond, but its getting to be most things are. As far as warranty, most places warranty there product until you file a warranty claim. The truck is used as a winter beater, work truck and for ice fishing. I only drive 5k a year,so I want to keep the overhead down. I feel a little bit better,if I purchase this the parts store is located in th USA.

Find a local shop and just have them bend you a new system. Should cost around the same and will be fully welded and of better quality. Avoid Midas/Meineke and go with the independent shops.

I had the truck to two different muffler shops, neither one wants to do the job, because of the mid 02 sensor. Also the converter has been hollowed out. I decided to roll the dice, and purchased the exhaust from Mac auto. I will let you know in a few days the quality of the system.

I cant think any exhaust shops out here that would turn you down. Thats too bad they wont do the job they are in business for.

The exhaust system has arrived. I went through the carton, and there was not a jar of Vaseline enclosed. The converter was made in the USA by Davico mfg.. The muffler was made by Walker. I am not sure where the pipes were made, but there made out of a heavy gauge metal. The exhaust pipe comes with heat shields welded to the pipe. All the gaskets were made in Mexico. All of the welds look excellent.
