I have always been into hondas but for the last 3 years iv been wanting a 5sp maxima. Finally i found one and i got a chance to trade my accord for it. Only one problem. When i start the car it just keeps turning over, while its turning over it seems like it loses power for a second then starts turning over agian(it does this 3-5 times evertime i start it), It sometime backfires threw the exhaust while doing this. But it does start all most all the time. When it does start(sometimes after 3-10min of trying) i smell a little gas. And latly its been kinda sluggish when i give it gas. It cut off one me twice, once while i was at a red light and once while i was doing about 35mph. The codes i have are o2 sensor, crank sensor. and knock sensor. But i have a feeling its my fuel pump. what do you guys think. Thanks guys for any help. ohh and So far im diggin this forum

Crank angle sensor could be related.

If it starts eventually and you're also smelling fuel and it's backfiring, I doubt it's a fuel pump issue.

And welcome!

Everything points to your crank angle sensor. The O2 and knock sensor codes are incidental. If the ignition system is firing erratically, the exhaust gasses will be well out of range (O2 sensor) and when it does fire there will be some tendency for pre-ignition due to the totally cocked-up air/fuel ratio (knock sensor). Before you set about changing the crank angle sensor, carefully check the wiring associated with it. A dirty or loose connector can cause untold havoc. On the VQ30 engine it's located in a dirty area anyway. Good luck.

UPDATE!

the thing with the parts car fell throught, but i installed a new crank positioning sensor and a camshaft sensor, checked all the grounds and they all seem good. After i got the sensors installed it feels like a drives a little better but i stll have the same problem when i start it up. I also found out the fuel pump was replaced a week befor i got it which was 3 months ago and it also got a tune up

im so lost its not even funny, it almost makes me wanna cry
