1997 maxima heat shield in the exhaust system fell off

Heat shield piece fell off due to rusting. Local mechanic said not to worry! Is it true? Where can I get the replacement part? Thank you for your advice.

My heat shield fell off of my Cat and that was 2 years ago. I haven't had one bit of trouble.

I even put a aftermarket y-pipe on as well as custom exhaust from my cat to a magnaflow muffler. I'm still running the stock cat and I never got it fixed.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you but if its something that is really going to bother you for whatever reason I'm sure any auto parts store would be able to order it but you might have to order a whole new cat...I'm not really sure about that.

Mine fell off on my 99' I30t as well and I never bothered replacing it, I think its still kicking around in the basement somewhere. No problems here with anything, I wouldn't waste my money or time unless it was a show car or you're really OCD.

No idea where you could get it either, But I second the idea of going down to an Autozone or something and asking. Possibly to Nissan? (Might be alot more expensive OEM)
