1997 j30 Power Moonroof Problems

Fellas...Just joined b/c I have an issue w my moonroof....It will open by using the switch but will not close.......I have to manually push it closed & the back of the roof will not elevate to create the seal.....Is there a way to get this thing closed w/o taking everything out of the car etc.....Any advise would be GREATLY appreciated......Please email me regarding procedures/parts/[email protected]

Maybe the switch is the prob ??A guru will chime in soon.

Does it seem to struggle as its opening ?

Thanks for the support fellas……

Here is what happened…..I had the roof ½ way opened and when I went to close it the roof started to grind…?It eventually closed and I should have left it alone……But I did not…..I opened it and then realized it would not close….It will open by using the switch but will not close and elevate at the end of the cycle of closing….I do not mind if it is not functional, but would really like the roof to be able to seal and then I can unhook the switch….Once again thanks for the help….

If you pop off the control panel you can close it Manually like Willie mentioned above.

I purchased. , the moon roof repair kit from Infiniti of Scottsdale and followed the above procedures and all went well. The kit PN is in the above PDF file.Took a good 9 hours start to finish.

The sunroof is a PITA fix. But doable by any layperson.
