I recently purchased a 97 Infiniti I30 from an Infiniti dealer. Neither front seat heater works. I contacted the previous owner, who says they worked for him. The indicator lights on the switches indicate that the heater is on, and the under-dash fuse checks ok, but no heat that I can detect.

It seems suspicious that neither works, when both were working before. Are seat heaters a fragile thing that you have to be careful of abusing? I don't have any experience with them previously. Any secrets to caring for and trouble shooting them? This is a nice car that has had good maintenance.

Thanks.easy ed

It's possible that the heater coils in both seats have went bad.I would start with two things.1) even though the light on the switch comes on whenactived by a new one and see if it works...if not take it back.2) not necessarily last, check under the seat to make sure everything appears connected

Maybe a fuse gone bad somewhere? Always check the simple things first. Check owner's manual for diagram of fuses.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will take a look at doing that in the morning. I am wondering how hard it is to get at the heater coils in the seats?

Does anyone have any idea if their are any in-line fuses or fusible links or relays for these heater coils? Sometimes high amperage devices like a resistance heater coil employ these to prevent excess current from burning out the elements. Any idea where to obtain a wiring diagram for this car without having to mortgage the farm?

The under dash fuse checks ok, 12v on both sides.
