Hi, for the life of me I can't get the keyless entry to work on my 97 qx4. The car just won't go into programming mode. I put the key in and out 6 times but the hazards just won't flash. Please help. Thanks

1. Close and lock all doors with the driver's side power lock/unlock switch.

2. Insert key into ignition and remove it from the ignition key cylinder at least six times within 10 seconds. ( Withdraw key completely from ignition cylinder each time ) . If this procedure is performed too fast, system will not enter programming mode.

3. Insert key into the ignition cylinder and turn to the ACC position.

4. Within 5 seconds, push the lock button on the keyless remote. Your Hazard Lamps should flash. ( Do not press the button more than one time in the above step). If the button is pressed more than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful.

5. If there are any remaining remotes (including the old ones), unlock then lock all doors using the driver's side power lock/unlock switch and within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the next remote. Your Hazard Lamps should flash. Repeat this step for each keyless remote (including any existing keyless remotes).

6. Turn the key to the OFF position, remove keys from the ignition, unlock doors using the driver's side power lock/unlock switch and open the driver side door.

I thought Once done with step 2, the hazards are supposed to flash? Mine won't.

Does your car have an alarm/security?

Have you tried inserting and removing the key MORE than exactly 6 times? Try 10 times... because your key might not be catching the right spot every time.
Otherwise I suggest just driving to a Nissan dealer, befriend the parts guy, and ask him to show you how to program your remote.

I have inserted it many more times than 6. Thans for the suggestion.

Is your security light flashing when the doors are closed?

That's your problem... it shouldn't be.
It should only flash when a door / hood / hatch is open. Check the those pin switches. The car won't go into program mode if the security light is flashing.

Oh, if the doors are closed then it is not flashing. If I open them it is. Sorry for any confusion.

This thread is quickly moving towards #facepalm territory.
I suggest taking your car to the dealer.
