Hello,i am working on my friend's 1997 infiniti q45.we have installed a new infiniti power steering rack due to no power steering to the right.it is electronic steering also.while road testing it--i have found that during low speeds it looses power steering for a second and then gets it back.i have tried to check all ofthe electronics and all ofthe tests come back good.could this possibly be in the power steering pump itself--i do not have a lot of experience on this model.thanks for any help--it would be greatly appreciatedjoe dutkiewicz

Speed sensitive steering that gets harder as speed increases. FSM explains how to test..............solenoid controls bypass pressure.

OEM replacement rack or aftermarket rebuild [changed seals]?

Did you set the pinion preload at the cold operating temperature you wish?Rack Bind

Did you check the PS pump pressure per FSM?

NO I DIDN'T TOUCH THE PRELOAD,IT IS A BRAND NEW FACTORY RACK.IS THAT NOT SET FROM THE FACTORY??I HAVE TO CHECK THE PUMP PRESSURE NEXT IT LOOKS LIKE,UNLESS THE PRELOAD IS NOT SET PROPERLY FROM THE FACTORY.

JOE

WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST NEXT??

ONE MORE THING--DOES THAT PUMP HAVE DIFFERENT VALVING IN IT WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING COMPARED TO A REGULAR PS PUMP??
