I just bought a 97 J30 and my rear 6x9 speakers are messed up. I was wondering if I could replace them with some kicker 6x9's
Woofer (in., cm): 6x9, 16x23.0
Mid (in., cm): 2-1/2, 6.4
Tweeter (in., cm): 1/2, 1.3
Impedance (Ohms): 4
Max Rec Amp Power (watts PEAK/RMS): 140/70
Sensitivity (dB 1w/1m): 92
Frequency Response (Hz): 30-20k I still have the factory headunit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

As yoda said, the headunit is made to handle 1 ohm. Being higher is not going to hurt you, you just wont be the best it could be. But what you could do is run the back two speakers in parallel which would drop them down to 2 ohm. (There is no way to wire a 4 ohm down to 1) The main problems you're gonna have is with the wiring, the radio wiring in that car can get really confusing. If you go on moddifiedlife.com they have color codes and what not to help out.

I simply bought a aftermarket head unit and powered my speakers with a small amp

Hey shark, do you recall what color wires you used from the harness?
