Service Engine Soon light is on in my 1997 Infiniti I30. I checked with a local mechanic and the faulty codes are P0325, P0500 and P0600.

How serious is this problem? If I continue to drive the vehicle, will it harm the engine in any way?

If I have to get it repaired how much it may cost? I would prefer replacing the whole sensor/faulty part instead of riddling with wiring/grounding etc.

Any inputs highly appreciated.

there's a list of codes in the faq section but since you didn't do your own search and nobody else wanted to help you i looked them up.

you have a bad knock sensor or it's wiring, transmission - comunication problem, and a bad vehicle speed sensor.

I had a look at the descriptions in the forum. I am a novice and do not understand what they mean.

But I am interested to know how harmful they are for the engine. If it does not harm the engine, I would continue to drive it with the light.

I do not want to end up spending too much money on a 11 year old car.

Please help...

k...the knock sensor throws off the ecu so you'll get a loss of mpg and power if not replaced. the speed sensor...i wouldn't worry too much, same with the transmission code if it shifts smooth. check out the faq section for how to's when replacing the ks (knock sensor). there's also an fsm (factory service manual) here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/i30/1997_I30/ - download it because it often crashes. first of all disconnect your battery for about half hour - that'll clear the codes and see if they come back.
