I have a turboed 1997 Altima w/KA24DE

List of Mods:Revhard ManifoldT3/T40EJWT Fuel RailJWT ECU50# MSD InjectorsCobra MAFNismo FPRWalbro 255lph Fuel PumpCustom IC PipingProfec B Spec II Boost ControllerBoost GaugeFuel Pressure GaugePLX WidebandTial WGGreddy BOV

Car runs on 91 octaneNO TIMINGSTOCK INTERNALS

The Problem:The car was running good, not great, due to some air leaks, and exhaust leak, but it ran and made boost up to 13psi and it pulled great.

One day driving around a wire that i had hanging around for my turbo timer touched the frame of the car and sparked. Later on that day, i noticed the car was very sluggish, and didnt make boost. I stopped driving the car and took it in to a mech. He got the car running but it didnt fix the problem.

Whats NOT WrongIC system is fine, no leaksWastegate is fineEBC is fineTurbo is fineBOV is fineCap and rotor are newPlug wires are newPlugs are decent

Cars condition nowCar runs ok, not sluggish, but not tip top shape.Oil smells of gas, compression across the board is at 75/80/80/75.Last year april before turbo install compression was 160/162/165/162NO noticable smoke of anykind coming from anywhereA/F gets really rich about half throttle and on up it sits at about 10 or RICH on my PLXI assume that the continous rich condition before taking it in has ruined the piston rings, hence the smell of gas in the oil and the lack of compression.

Possible Reasons why:JWT ECU has something fried in it, i think and so does someone there (not ben) that this could have happend. That some where in the ECU, it has gone into some sort of gimp mode or reverted back to some orginal settings causeing those 50# injectors to flow to much.

Any thoughts or questions. I am thinking about rebuilding the engine, and going to install an AEM EMS, but i want to make sure that the wiring somewhere isnt fired.

Anyhelp would be great.

Thanks,Kenton

If those current compression numbers are correct then you got more problems than a JWT ECU.

The only reason you would experiece low compression #'s like that is your piston rings are toast buddy!

thats very true, however were the compression readings taken cold after not been running.. often times older engines will be WAY outta spec if its cold, but once you get them to operating temp and do the test theyll be fine.

Doesn't matter, this fella explained his oil smells like gas and his compression readings are low not to mention at mid to high RPMS he's solid "rich"

This sounds like a classic case of piston ring blow by. The rings are shot and gas is not fully burning at low RPMS and leaking into the oil, at higher RPMS the crankcase pressure increases enough to push oil up into the combustion chamber and it SHOWS rich on his A/F gauge. Check the plugs after driving the car for about 10 minutes and I bet they are not charcoal black but instead black like oil.
