hi all,I have a 1997 Altima with the check engine light. There are 2 codes1-300---engine misfire 2--171---engine too lean. What is the fix for these 2 codes. I don't want to reset the ecu until i fix the problem. I think it is bad plugs or timing resetand O2 sensor. Any help.. Thanks Dagovna

300: said that it could be a couple things improper spark plugs, insufficient compression, incorrect fuel pressure, EGR valve, injector signal shorted or open, intake leak, injector problem, ignition secondary circuit open or shorted, lack of fuel, or a magnetized flywheel

171: intake leak, front heated O2 sensor, injectors, exhaust leak, incorrect fuel pressure, lack of fuel or MAF

Lean code. Well the 2 codes might be related for sure. A lean misfire. Altimas are known to have leaks at the intake manifold causing unmetered air to get past the MAF and would cause to a lean misfire. I would spray some carb cleaner around the intake manifold while the car is running to see if the RPM's jump. If they do that means the gasket is leaking and would be your lean code.
