Good morning all and Happy Independence Day !
This is my first post. My question is one that I've been puzzled by for 2 years.
My air-conditioner is intermittent and I've tried identifying the issue and cannot find it. The compressor works but then after it heats up or pressure gets high or it will kick off. I recharged the system with the aid of the Auto Skills Center at Ft. Campbell Ky.
I do have mechanics that have offered several solutions including but not limited to running a jumper wire from the ignition area over to the compressor to create more voltage. While that suggestion yields cold air I am suspicious it can cause damage to the harness and other wiring components.
Is it possible the dual pressure switch is faulty ? I jumped around it by unplugging the connector and closing the circuit with a piece of wire, but I think I did it wrong. The compressor didn't come on when I did that.
However when you jump from the battery it works fine. The relay on the passenger side of the engine compartment has been checked as well and it works.
Ok I'll wait for a reply !

Could be one or multiple causes. After the system was recharged was it tested for leaks? The freon might of leaked out causing the compressor to cut out . Could be a restriction in the dryer. Before you do anything make sure the condenser is not clogged. The key to the ignition key is a NO. The pressure switch could be bad. Recheck the system checking for low or a overcharged system. Might also have a compresser issue - like a clutch going bad.

Also could be the thermal expansion valve. Just an opinion - when you recheck the system - Use a A/C system chart - you can get a printable chart online. This will help you interpreting pressure readings which will help you find the issue.

Hey Thanks a huge bunch, I have a FSM from my friend who was the original owner, but their flow charts are confusing.Although it has obviously been a great help Nissan certainly didn't make it easy to read or interpret.
I will try your suggestions and see what results I get.
Leak sounds likely but hasn't been tested.

Doesn't have to be a Nissan chart. You can also download an interpreting chart. The chart should determine the cause.
