Hi,

I'm new to this board and have a 1997 240SX with 90,000 miles on it. I was told I have a timing chain instead of a timing belt on this car. And that replacing it including labor will cost around $1,500.

I'm just wondering what other 240SX owners have done about replacing this timing chain? I'm tempted to sell the car instead and use the $1500 as a down payment for another car. Are most other 240SX owners just replacing iit? How many miles can you typically get out of the timing chain?

Thanks in advance!

timing chain is not a maintanence item and at 90k unless something is wrong with it ,it shouldnt need replacement yet. There is no milage interval on it.

what is wrong with it. if it's just clicking and making noise you probably just need to take off the guides, thats what made my 2 cars stop clickin
