quick background: '97 black/black leather 240sx SE w/ all options. automatic transmission. this car dynoed at 119.3WHP and 135.5 ft/lbs of torque. i was originally planning to swap my friend's S14 SR20 into the car, but he sold it, and as it turns out- it looks as though KA-T is the way to go. here is the setup i have planned for the KA-T. my goal horsepower at the wheels is 300 on the dot.

factory ka24de. factory internals.t25/28 turbo 3" high-flow cat3" cat-back exhaust with 22" resonator & 2.25" tipswalboro fuel pumpZ32 MAFS370cc sr20det injectorsapexi safc ii or greddy e-manage- any opinions?complete unorthodox aluminum pulley setapexi turbo timer xs engineering 23.5x11.8x13in fmickoyo aluminum radiatormodified injen intake with k&n filter

the factory ka24de and automatic transmission should be able to handle this amount of power. i will eventually swap the auto with a 5spd when i get together the necessary parts. anyone care to give me their opinion of my planned setup? much appreciated, nick wisner

It looks good But I would say get a z31 T3 or something bigger than the t25/28.

And you cant have an Emanage and a SAFC, choose one only. And you can skip the pullies unless you want the bling factor or have nothing else to spend your money on.

I really appreciate the rapid replies to my post- a few quick questions for you:why kill the pullies- is the "14hp" gain a load of BS?also, assuming i purchased the garrett t3, what manifold could i use and it should bolt up directly to the KA, correct? its a lot easier to find a t3 flanged mani than a t28 flanged for the ka...so thats another good reason to switch to something similar to like a z31 t3

also thats an amazing color you painted your z32 calipers, just so you know

thanks for the caliper comment i like to call it "Kouki Blue", but Dupli-Color seems to like "Old Ford Blue" better... it took forever to get them clean enough to paint these suckers. materials used :palm sandersimple greenbrake degreaseracid wire wheel cleaner320 grit sandpapersanding blocksteel woolwire brush... if anyone wants me to clean/paint their Z32 calipers for 'em - $50 and i'll paint 'em whatever color you want

119 HP stock?

does the auto transmission hurt dyno numbers that bad?

i dynoed @ 134.16 and 137.72 ft/lbs with my 92 coupe....

is it bone stock?

o yea....and get a t3 like the other guys are saying...much easier to find a mani and more room to expand later on

Yes automatic trannies tend to sap even more power from the engine. Good looking car. I would want a different turbo but that's just me.

What turbo would you recommend?

A T3/T04e 50/57 trim with a .63A/R would be great for your set-up and around 300whp is right where it starts to get into it's efficiency range. Top end is nice too.

For the record, yes that is the same turbo I have.

I'm not positive, but don't 370cc injectors start maxing out around 300whp? I'd personally rather play a little safer and get 550cc if your going to hit around 300.

I'm also guessing that's about around the hp you want to start rebuilding your engine?

Yea, I like to play it safe, I'm a p***y

Soo....t3/t04e 50 trim wheel in .60 a/r compressor housing - stage 3 wheel in .63 a/r turbine w/ 360 degree bearing. Internal wastegate at 7 psi used for around 11k miles, has no shaft play whatsover. = $400.00This would seem to be puurrfect, yes?

I'm actually looking for rebuilt KA's/nice trannies at the moment, but youre right 370cc max out before 300whp... I'm thinking the S15 480cc injectors will suffice... What about you?

That's the same color I used to paint my valve cover....2.5 years ago. How dare you use MY color!!!!! just kidding

But yeah, 370's max out far below 300 whp....somewhere around 260 whp? Mine are at an 89% duty cycle at 9 psi from a T3

EDIT...Mine is FORD blue, not OLD ford blue lol

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone @ NICO for helping me out. I never realized I could get my entire turbo system planned out- have my turbo/manifold/downpipe bought and even find a new starter in less than 12hrs! A++++ with a star to everyone out there who's helped me in the past day and I hope to hear from you guys soon

nice setup. I agree with everyone else on the T3 turbo. If you decide you want to upgrade further in the future that leaves you the option of installing a T3/T4 hybrid which are EASILY sourced. Good luck on your project! You might look into getting an oil cooler too. The topic was discussed earlier and it is definitely something worth investing in IMHO.

Without a doubt in my mind, the T3/TO4E turbo in 50 trim with a .63 AR stgIII exhaust wheel is the best match for the KA24DE. Fiz uses it, I use as well as several other members on this board.

Your well on your way to having a really fun car to drive.

Do you think that 480cc S15 injectors will be sufficient to supply the engine with 300rwhp? Also, any ideas on app. prices for custom downpipes and intercooler piping? Thank you
