I know what your thinking. Another dreaaadful topic where I ask how I can improve my Q ever so slightly....

But Maxnix recently said that 1997-2001 Q45 (FGY33) front brakes would be an upgrade on a 1990-1996 Q45 (G50). I thought he was drunk when he said that and meant that the rear brakes from a FGY33 would be an upgrade. Well turns out the FGY33 has better brakes all around...The front rotors, pads and calipers are slightly bigger. The rear brakes consist of vented rotors which is a plus.

But the front calipers of the FGY33 have bigger pistons VS the smaller ones found on the G50. I assume this would move the brake bias more forward...

I ask these questions because the 1997 Q45 is able to stop from 60-0 MPH in 123 feet. The 1990 Q45 is able to stop from 60-0 MPH (I assume according to Q45Tech) in 129 feet. Sure the 1997 Q45 is 149 LBS lighter, Is that really significant enough to cause such a difference in braking distance?

The 97' also had different slightly better/bigger stock tires which could also figure in....also the 97' had anti-lock brakes, did the 90?

Yeah the 1990-1996 Q45 had three channel ABS same as the 1997-2001 Q45.

I think the tire patch which comes in contact with the pavement has the most to do with braking. Your right though as many different factors could increase or decrease the braking distance.

I wish someone would help me with my Diagnostic program that I want to make. One of my idea's would help in this situation!

The rear rotors are the same size as the G50 but vented like the J30. Different caliper and splash shield is all that is required.

15" are out with the FGY33 front rotor.

I think all FGY33 might be four channel. I'll have to check.
