That's what my car was doing! I should have explained that better, lol.
Well I seem to have fixed it, but it wasn't this aux air valve thing. I know because I went to pick n pull and grabbed one off a 92 Nissan NX. I couldn't find a B13 SE-R in pick n pull (obviously, haha) so I cross-referenced the part no. for the valve and found some other cars it came on. So anyway, I got an aux valve off a m/t Nissan NX. Swapped it in, had to solder the new plug on (Nissan must have changed what kind of plugs they use over the years?), cranked it up, and same story.
SO, I thought that maybe my NX valve was bad too. But I was skeptical; the valve looked pristine, as did the engine I pulled it off of. So I started to think what else it could be. I was all set to tear into the main idle air control unit, until I flipped through the service manual, and the throttle position sensor caught my eye. Because it had "idle" in the description.
SO, I have like 4 TPSs for some reason. 1 from o.g. 240SX KA24E. 1 came with Silvia CA18 swap. 1 from Stanza KA24E (I'm running the throttle body from one, so I had it around). And 1 from a guy on the forum, who told me it was for a CA18. The kicker is, all of them BUT the one I bought off the forum had the same part number. Using my leet skills I deduced I should try the one with the non-matching part number. And lo and behold, IT IDLES RIGHT NOW!!!! YES!!!! (Jumps to 1600 or so on start, then goes to ~800 once at operating temp)
But now I don't really know what's going on. The TPS I had on there came with my swap, but has the same part number as the KA24E TPSs. The one on there now that works is a different part number than my other 3.
Since I used the one that came with my CA18, it should have worked, regardless of part number. Unless my homie in Japan did a switch-around on me. Or maybe the one on there now is just an outdated part number or something? Nissan likes to screw with our minds.
In any case, weirdo part numbers or no, check your throttle position sensor! (Or just replace it till it works, like me, god FORBID I use a multimeter lol)
