Hey,
I'm in the process of buying a 1996 300ZX na and i'm just getting involved in the car and everything. I'm wondering if anyone can send me some photos of completely stock TT's and NA's. I'm curious what the different trim levels are and I want to verify if this 300ZX I am buying is indeed untouched.

Personally would advise getting a '90-95 as they have variable valve timing, but if you go to my instagram I have pictures of mine that is bone stock on there @Zach_quintaine well I have an axle back exhaust, and pod filter

Visually the differences are very minor. The TT has little vents on the front end at the bottom corners of the bumper cover to allow for air to the intercoolers (basically 3 horizontal slots), the n/a did not have these and most replacement front ends have them, the TT's also all had a spoiler, whereas the n/a did not.

You think 7500 is a good price for a completely stock clean 77k mile 1996 na?

And the variable cam timing, that is just an efficiency thing not so much performance right?
I'm not that much of a car guy.

Variable is good for 20horse powers not much, but it's something, and if it's super clean, like flawless paint, and very well taken of interior, no rips, tears or chunks missing from the dash and door panels, personally I'd pay it, but I payed roughly 6500 or so for mine and mine has a tear in the drivers seat and messed up door pannel, and the ever wonderful neglected maintenance

Is this going to be a daily driver? I wouldn't buy a low miles z32 for a driver, but then i also wouldn't buy an n/a as a show or investment car. The miles on the one you are looking at is very low, but much of the maintenance on these needs to be done over time regardless of mileage, they are difficult to service and most techs working today have never seen the under hood of one of these. The market on these cars is pretty near bottom. I've seen rough but drivable cars near the $1k mark, $5k buys a nice driver and I'm talking TT, the n/a's bring less. The problem is generally speaking that same $5k buy a newer 350z in better shape that requires less maintenance, is easier to service and is something the current crop of tech's is likely to have seen before. If you are looking to invest in a Z32, low miles is key but you'll get far better return from an early TT car.

I'm looking for a car to drive less than 500 miles a year just for fun and maybe slowly restoring it/cleaning it up. I've only ever driven suburbans my whole life and I want to get into learning a manual and driving for fun. I won't buy a car without it being completely stock. this one i'm looking at had its timing belt, water pump, and clutch replaced at 60k miles. I'm hoping it'll be a fun car for summer drives and then be able to sell it for not too much of a loss sometime in the future. Think that's possible?

If you are more concerned with retaining value, buy an S130. They are dependable, require very little in the way of maintenance, all the mechanicals are available, if you are learning to drive a manual it's a lot cheaper and easier to put a clutch in and they have started to raise in value. Or buy a 350Z, again less maintenance, shops actually know how to service them, they are getting cheaper but I think a well cared for car will hold it's value better, especially if you get something like the 03 track model. And for learning to drive a manual they have the dual mass flywheel which tends to be easier for those who are new to manuals.
