I recently bought a 96 TT. I have been working out the "problems" with it; still has exhaust manifold leak to be fixed.

I have performed the knock sensor 1M Ohm resistor defeat after testing it and it constantly throwing the P0325 code. When I took it out for a spirited test run, it had great pull until about 5500-6000 RPM and then it felt like the fuel shut off. No CEL, I tried to get on it again and the same thing happened. It will pull just fine and shift fine as long as I stay under ~5000 RPM.

I hooked up the OBDII diag tool and got a single code: P0605: ECM calculation function is malfunctioning

I don't know if this car has an ECU upgrade yet, I will check tomorrow. I went to look the other night, but stopped when I saw all the aftermarket car stereo and alarm wiring near the ECU.

I also noticed that it seems the boost goes to the 3rd tick mark (no aftermarket boost gauge) is that 10.5? When I read this post it says it should go a little past the 2nd tick mark: http://z32.wikispaces.com/Buyer%27s+Guide or 9.5 PSI. Possibly running higher boost or just the stock gauge being off?

Any thoughts on the code or things to look at besides buying a new ECU

Regards,
Joe

Third tick I think is max boost on the gauge right? 14 PSI? I haven't sat in my car in a long time unfortunately.

1996 ECU upgrades are few and far between. It's easy enough to check the ECU to see if it's aftermarket. 3 10mm bolts hold down a wood panel in the passenger side footwell.

Do you have a boost controller?

Welcome to Nico!
